We’re delighted to announce that acclaimed manga duo Akira Himekawa will be flying over from Japan to join us at MCM London later this month. Best known for chronicling Link’s adventures in the ongoing Legend of Zelda manga series, the two-woman team that makes up Akira Himekawa have worked together since 1991 and go by the individual pen-names of A. Honda and S. Nagano, although their real names remain a mystery.
To celebrate the iconic creators UK debut, VIZ Media, who have been bringing the finest in manga, anime, and global entertainment to English-speaking fans across the world for over thirty years will be on hand to share exciting details about their upcoming schedule.
Akira Himekawa will be on hand throughout the weekend to meet fans at signings and exciting panels. See them on the VIZ Media panel Friday on the Centre Stage at 1100 alongside VIZ Media editor Michael Montesa where VIZ will be announcing new titles, and giving away special prizes to lucky fans. Akira Himekawa’s featured spotlight panel will take place on Saturday on the Main Stage at 1415 and includes a special announcement of new titles, a live drawing session and awesome trivia questions for prize giveaways.
While their creative output includes manga for other big name brands such as Astro Boy and My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, Akira Himekawa are most famous for their long-running adaptation of the classic Nintendo franchise The Legend of Zelda, beginning with The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time back in 1999. Published in Japan by Shogakukan, Akira Himekawa’s Legend of Zelda manga are available in the West from VIZ Media, including the most recent entry in the series – The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.
