Simon Bisley (ABC Warriors, Lobo, Sláine)and Emanuela Lupacchino (Wonder Woman, Starfire, Supergirl) are the latest additions to MCM London’s ever-growing guest list of great comic book creators, joining a Comic Village line-up that already includes Mike Zeck, John Beatty, Howard Mackie and Mark Texeira.
British comic book artist Simon Bisley is best known for his 1990s work on ABC Warriors, Lobo and Sláine, as well as his Eisner Award-winning art for hit Batman/Judge Dredd crossover Judgment on Gotham. Famous for his painted, Frank Frazetta-influenced cover art, Bisley’s more recent work includes covers for Titan Comics’ Factory, IDW’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Bodycount and Harley’s Little Black Book from DC Comics.
After illustrating several series in her native Italy, Emanuela Lupacchino kicked off her US career with IDW titles such as Angel: Only Human and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine before becoming the regular artist for Marvel’s X-Factor. Following a long run on Marvel comics, Lupacchino moved to DC, where her credits include Supergirl, Trinity, Wonder Woman, Catwoman, JLA, Bombshells and – most recently – Conner and Palmiotti’s Starfire.
An industry veteran with a tonne of Marvel and DC titles to his name, American comic artist Mike Zeck is best known for his work on Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars, Captain America, The Punisher, Deathstroke the Terminator and iconic Spider-Man plotline ‘Kraven’s Last Hunt’, widely considered one of the greatest Spidey stories ever told. Other credits include Batman, Green Lantern, Master of Kung Fu, G.I. Joe and The Kingdom.
One of the industry’s top inkers, John Beatty has worked on almost every major comic character there is at one time or other, collaborating with acclaimed pencil artists such as Kelley Jones, Michael Golden and friend and fellow MCM guest Mike Zeck. Beatty’s work for Marvel and DC Comics includes Captain America, The Punisher, Secret Wars and a host of Batman projects, including a fan favourite three-year run on the monthly Batman book.
Acclaimed for his work on Ghost Rider, Black Panther and Vampirella, Mark Texeira’s four decades in the industry have seen his dynamic drawings featured in hundreds of books and comics, not to mention magazines, movies, albums and ads. Other titles Texeira has contributed to include Wolverine, Spider-Man, Sabretooth, Psi-Force and Jonah Hex, while last year saw him collaborate with Frank Tieri on the explosive A Million Ways to Die hard.
American comic book editor and writer Howard Mackie is probably most famous as the co-creator of the Danny Ketch incarnation of Ghost Rider. Currently working on projects at Zenescope Entertainment, Mackie’s Marvel and DC Comics output includes Spider-Man, The X-Men, X-Factor, Gambit, Solo Avengers, The Ravagers and Batman Black and White – and he was also recently revealed as 2001 series The Brotherhood’s mysterious ‘Writer-X’!
STAY TUNED FOR FURTHER COMIC VILLAGE UPDATES!
